Just found this 95 M edition Miata on Cl. The 95 M is my favorite Miata period. But even with on driving on Sundays, in the summer, mileage 10.5k for a NA miata still seems high. It’s crazy what people ask for a clean Miata these days. It’s no longer “look how much cheaper the Miata is than cars A,B and C.” No, now it’s you could have cars A,B, and C for 1/3 the price of a clean NA Miata.

OH and heres why I wouldn’t buy the 95 M

I’ll be honest, that’s a fair price for that sort of Miata. The M-Edition is basically Mazda’s reward for checking every option box physically possible by giving you a very special and classy paint job and badges. It also has the lightest OEM 15” wheels for a Miata, I think they only weight like 11 pounds each. Combine that with its virtually-flawless condition and low, low miles, I would say it’s could pull that sort of money in. However, I say could instead of should because it’d really be a 10.5k$ deal if it came with the factory color-matched hardtop.
It’s apple to oranges. The Mazdaspeed is for those wanting to go fast. The M Edition is a collector’s piece perfect for ideal sunday drives to church or around town during sunny summer days. The only downsize of the Mazdaspeed is that it probably retains to the stupid-short gearing and rear-end ratios when it really needs that Aussie-spec 3.63 rear end to make the most of the reduced redline and tight 6-speed gearbox.

The 95M is gorgeous, and basically a museum piece/collector’s item. It is too pristine to buy as a daily driver. (and I would be sorely more tempted to find a 93 LE with the red interior, or a BRG M edition... just because I like British Racing Green.)
The MSM, however, I would drive the hell out of. If I had some cash stashed, I might actually consider selling my 99 PEP, and getting that car instead. 11K is a bit high, perhaps... but if it is negotiable, a nice price could be reached.
The only changes I might make to the MSM, would be these:
Saddle brown seats from 2002 Titanium gray SE. Maybe the matching steering wheel, but I might otherwise go with an actual wood NARDI wheel and shift knob. I could take or leave the saddle brown inserts in the door cards, and I would probably leave the tonneau cover black.
I might replace the wheels with something even lighter, stronger, and bronze (to go with the saddle brown interior, and give it a bit more color than just gray, although that bronze is a bit on the bold side...)
6UL Gen4 flow-formed 15x8, perhaps, as pictured.
Also, I’ve always liked the look of this NB Miata, with the aftermarket vanes and ducts in the front bumper cover. They remind me of the Porsche Boxster concept, and the duct parts would similarly look great in a brushed bronze metallic vinyl wrap, in leu of the tacked-on looking MSM front air dam piece.
Oh, and yeah... HID projector retrofit in the headlights...
99-2000 2-beam halogens are barely adequate... HID low beams and HIR high beams in 2001-05 4-beam fixtures are capable of much better light output.
